We’ve found that there is often a lot of confusion with new small business owners on Business Activity Statements or BAS for short, just to clear things up though, BAS is the way that Australian Businesses record the amount of GST that they have collected and owe to the government.
Depending on your business size, frequency of transactions, and complexity of transactions you may opt for different reporting periods but generally speaking most businesses lodge their BAS every quarter. It’s important to note that there are government set lodgement periods, you can’t simply decide that a quarter starts and ends when you like, speak to one of our accountants for more information regarding reporting periods.
